According to the tipping ratio statistics there were two major upsets: Port Adelaide (30.8%) defeated Hawthorn and West Coast (31.3%) defeated a depleted Essendon in WA.
It was a round of thrilling games which saw Geelong scrape home by 2 points against Adelaide, St Kilda by a solitary point against Sydney and Richmond defeated Melbourne by 4 with a goal after the final siren. The tip four sides all won, but Hawthorn, Essendon and Sydney are all but gone.
Jonathon Brown (Brisbane) bagged another 5 goals in a losing side total of 8 goals.
