Round 4 Tipsters' News, 2009

Welcome to Round 4, 2009. We have 227 paid up tippers, according to the April 19 MUCU internet bank statement. It is never too late to join ...

231 people tipped, 227 paid. Please note that if you haven't paid, you can't win the weekly prize. I am unable to contact Angela St Clair, but she is tipping. If anyone can supply contact details, please advise.

Any unpaid players by COB Thursday will be unsubscribed.

No-one tipped all eight winners over the weekend, so the prize pool jackpots to $540. In fact no-one tipped 7 and less than 10 people tipped six. I received an SMS on Saturday to advise that after three games, the only live entry was the RAT! - who went on to tip six, after tipping the first 5 straight. Another oddity was the winning teams were alternatively away, home, away, home etc.

According to the tipping ratio statistics there were four(!) major upsets: Collingwood (29.1%) defeated Brisbane at the Gabba, Rocca the big inclusion for the Magpies. And the umps scragged O'Bree and will out themselves for a week according to Mick Malthouse.

In a massive upset, Port Adelaide (4.8%) defeated the reigning premiers Hawthorn. The twin towers of Buddy and Roughhead only produced three goals between them.

In the battle for the wooden spoon, or early onset tanking, Melbourne (18.9%) beat Richmond, hastening Richmond's coach Wallace's demise, no doubt.

Finally West Coast (16.7%), thrashed last week, defeated undefeated Footscray.

In other highlights Gary Ablett notched up 46 possessions and three goals in a best on ground performance; Tredrea kicked 6 on top of his six last week, returning to his bes form of 5 years ago; St Kilda and Geelong remain the only undefeated teams, St Kilda inflicking an 83 point thrashing on the hapless Dockers, Mark Harvey coaching career also tenuous.

Meanwhile at the top of the Tipsters' Table Trevor Lee (Property and Campus Services) remains in outright first position after tipping 4, but is now joined by Peter McGrath (Audit) who tipped 5. Their aggregate total is 25. A point behind on 24 and equal 3rd-6th are Peter Hawting (c/o Rat's 6), Lindsay May, Ken Powell and Rob Sturrock (also c/o Rat's 6).

The average score for the round was a dismal 3.69 and The RAT (Random Tipper) tipped six as noted earlier. Six people (2%) didn't tip.

Tips close at 7 pm Friday.

Tip now to avoid disappointment. You can tip for the whole season - and then change your tips weekly - to be sure.

Good luck,

Ben Warden
