Round 9 Tipsters' News, 2009

Congratulations to the 6 people who tipped all eight winners over the weekend. They were

  • Jack1 Dutkiewicz (NEC)
  • Peter Hawting (external, formally Finance, Themis)
  • Mike Battersby (Info Services, Systems group)
  • Lachlan McGrath (Internal Audit)
  • Marcia Damjanovich-Napoleon (ex Physics, tipping from Manilla!)
  • Jason McKay (ext)

They get (810/6) $135 each, payable on Wednesday, once the video judge has given the all clear. Please send me your bank details.

According to the tipping ratio statistics there were two major upsets: Adelaide (34.5%) defeated Carlton and Collingwood (23.9%) defeated West Coast Eagles in Perth, having won 9 of their last 11 on the road.

Highlights of the round included Akarmanis (Footscray) playing his 300th against Geelong and backing up his mouth with a best on ground performance again. Alas, the Doggies lost by two points with seconds to go when Brad Johnston missed from a set shot (acute angle). Brilliant game with the Dogs coming from 6 goals down twice to nearly snatch it.

St Kilda were nearly rolled by the Brisbane Lions, but after winning, history was set with Geelong and St Kilda being the only teams in history to be undefeated after 9 rounds, that is, never before have two teams been undefeated after 9 rounds.

Richmond lost again after starting strongly. Expect another torrid week, Wallace's coaching tenure even more precarious.

Meanwhile at the top of the Tipsters' Table major ructions with Rob Sturrock crashing from two ahead to equal fourth after tipping a dismal 4 (by his lofty standards).

The two Peters (Hawting and McGrath) have assumed the table leadership, Peter H. care of his tipping eight, and Peter M. care of his solid 7. They have aggregate scores of 55. A point behind are Marian Ross (Monash University) and Rob Sturrock, equal 3rd/4th. A further point behind are Jane Bentley (Finance, 258Q, fanatical Melbourne supporter, footy die hard who goes to as many as three games a weekend) and Ken Powell (external). They have aggregate scores of 53.

The average score for the round was a high 5.64 and The RAT (Random Tipper) tipped 4. Nine people (3%) didn't tip.

Tips close at 7 pm Friday.

Tip now to avoid disappointment. You can tip for the whole season - and then change your tips weekly - to be sure.

    Good luck,

    Ben Warden
