Prizes:

Guaranteed $300 prize for aggregate leader at end of home-and-away matches, down to about $50 for 5th - depending on the number of entries.

$250 per week distributed amongst those who tip all 8 correctly, depending on the number of entries. (Last year it was $240, year before $260, year before $210, year before $200, year before $210)

If no person tips all 8 winners, the prize jackpots.

There is a minimum payout of $20, otherwise it jackpots.

Where prize payments are made by cheque, etc, then the recipient shall have the associated fees (bank, postage, etc) deducted from the payout. Preferred method of payment is via electronic transfer.

No prize for last - it cheapens first place.

Other Information:

If the RAndom Tipper (aka the RAT, a computer generated random set of tips) picks 8 winners, the 8 count towards the aggregate total, but a tipster cannot win a weekly prize using RAT's tips. To get a weekly prize, you have to pick the winning teams.

Entry fees must be received BEFORE ROUND ONE. Late entries receive RAT's tips for the rounds missed.

You can select a draw. If there is a draw, you must pick it to win the prize money. A draw counts as zero unless tipped correctly.

The competition finishes at the end of the home and away season.

If the weekly prize jackpots on the last round then the money is distributed amongst the top five.

The underlying philosophy is: a little bit of money for a lot of people rather than a lot for a few - a "people's pools".

The pools are completely non-profit - all entry fees are returned as prizes. (Except for bank fees - see above.)

Tips can be entered in advance and it is wise to do so.

The AFL ladder, tipsters ladder, results of past rounds, and the fixture are available electronically using the tipping programs.

Open to Melbourne University staff, students and friends.

The arbiters decision is final.
