Victoria - Australia's Motorcycling Heaven

Victoria is located in the south-eastern portion of the Australian mainland. It is Australia's second most populated state but it is the second smallest state, accounting for about 3% of the total Australian land-mass. Victoria has about 4.5 million residents with a temperate climate.

Victoria is practically overflowing with the beauty of all facets of nature, being home to snow-fields, rainforest, deserts, rugged coast-lines, wide sandy beaches (one even stretches for 140 km straight!), lakes, green rolling hills and fast-flowing rivers.

With all of this crammed into one small state with a modest population density comes the need for a good road system. Indeed quite a large portion of Victoria's roads are sealed and fairly well maintained, making it a motorcycling dreamland.

In order for you to get an idea on the whereabouts some of these roads are, a low-res map of Victoria is here (164kb). This map details the larger cities and major roads.

A finer scale version is here (724kb).

For copyright reasons these maps don't actually detail all of Victoria, but cover a 200km radius around Melbourne and most of Eastern Victoria and the roads these maps don't show tend to be the flatter regions of Victoria.
